We recently returned from visiting orphanages and the Hague Central Authority in Panama. Within the context of the "new reality" for adoptions in the world, it seems like a few adoptions from that country will be possible. Panamanians are adopting a growing number of the children apprehended from their parents. Within the context of the Hague Convention however, some children will be matched with appropriate families overseas. We have several families for whom we are submitting dossiers. Patience will be required however as there is at least a two-year waiting period after your dossier is sent to Panama.
We have a terrific team on the ground in Panama who are focused on the child's best interest. They will do everythin to make the transition to your family as smooth as possible.
