Panama is one of the few places in Central and South America where Canadians may adopt a child. Sunrise has an adoption program with Panama, but it does require patience. It is, however, an easy place to get to from Canada and you will be well taken care of while there.
The Children of Panama
- are toddlers or older
- you can specify if you wish to adopt a boy or girl
- you will receive a medical report and a social history
Adoptive Parents
- must have been married for a minimum of 2 years
- same-sex couples are not permitted
- generally, older applicants will receive older child proposals
Approximate Waiting Period
The waiting period in Panama is impossible to predict since each case is different. The wait will be at least two years.
Travel Requirements
Parents will have to stay in Panama for about two weeks. You will receive the adoption order in Panama.
