The Sunrise Morocco program open to Muslim couples committed to raising their children in the Muslim faith.

Children

• Infants from one month of age and older are available for adoption by adoptive parents under 50 years of age.

• Toddlers and school-age children are available for older parents, over 50 years of age.

• The placement of a female child cannot be guaranteed, as there are many more boys available than girls.  Adoptive parents are required to be open to a child of either gender.

Adopting Parents

• Adoptive parents must be under 50 years old to adopt an infant. Adopting parents over 50 years of age may adopt toddlers or older children.

• Single women under age 45 are eligible to adopt from Morocco.

• Couples should be married but there is no minimum length of marriage requirement.

• Same-sex couples are not eligible to adopt from Morocco.

Approximate Waiting Period

• Proposal information on a child in need of adoption is typically sent to you within six months after your dossier is complete.  However timelines are estimates and cannot be guaranteed.

• Typically 2 trips are required to complete the process.  Adopting parents attend court in Morocco to receive Guardianship.  The adoption will be finalized in the province of the adopting parents place of residence, 6 months after their return to Canada.
