Haiti
The Central Authority for the Hague Adoption Convention for Haiti has accredited Sunrise to complete adoptions in that country. We can work with Canadians residents.
We currently have spots available for this year and are seeking qualified families who can love and care for Haitian children. Applicants who meet the qualifications below and are interested in pursuing an intercultural adoption from Haiti should contact our office.
Children
The children legally eligible for adoption in Haiti live in crèches and orphanages. The children who
need adoptive families have been abandoned, orphaned or relinquished by their parent or parents.
Adoptive Parents
Applicants are advised to learn about development
and attachment issues, and must consider what
resources they have to parent a child who has
been in institutional care.
The eligibility criteria to adopt from Haiti are:
-
Applicants must be a heterosexual couple who have been married for 5 years or who have lived together for at least 5 years.
-
One of the spouses must be at least 30 years old.
-
Neither one may be more than 50 years old at the time a child is proposed.
-
Not currently using cannabis.
Adoption Completion
Adoptions from Haiti are completed in Haiti prior to the placement of the child with the adoptive parents.
Relative Adoptions
Sunrise also facilitates relative adoptions (the adoption of a child related to you) from Haiti. For more information please contact us.
Residents of Ontario and Quebec are required to use agencies in their home province.
