Kazakhstan
Sunrise has been accredited by the country of Kazakhstan to facilitate adoptions to Canada.
Kazakhstan and Canada are both members of the Hague Adoption Convention; as a result, there
are specific rules governing adoption between the two countries.
Children

The children are living in orphanages.

The children have varied ethnic backgrounds and could be of Kazakh, Russian, Mongolian, Japanese, European, or mixed heritage.

You cannot specify the gender of the child you wish to adopt.

Children under 3 years of age may be proposed to adoptive parents under 45 years of age.

Children 3 years and older may be proposed to adoptive parents between 45 and 50 years of age.
Adopting Parents

Adoptive parents must be under 50 years of age.

Heterosexual, married couples may adopt from Kazakhstan. Singles are not accepted.

Adoptive parents should have no criminal record of any kind.

Adoptive parents must have no history of mental health issues or depression. Certain other health issues would also not be accepted

Adoptive parents must agree to not home school their child.

Not currently using cannabis.
Relative Adoptions
Sunrise also facilitates relative adoptions (the adoption of a child related to you from Kazakhstan).
