Education Program

​It is a requirement of the BC Adoption Act that all prospective adoptive parents complete an adoption education program.

​

The Adoption Education Program (AEP) is delivered through an online learning platform and can be completed at your own pace. The program includes interactive modules, videos, and current content designed to help families understand adoption, child development, and trauma-informed parenting.

​

In addition to the online learning, families participate in facilitated group sessions led by experienced adoption education facilitators, as well as a dedicated one-to-one coaching session to support individualized learning and preparation.

​

This comprehensive program reflects current best practices in adoption education and provides families with practical knowledge and tools to prepare for the realities and lifelong journey of adoption.

​

The AEP is also available to families residing outside of British Columbia.  ​The AEP is delivered through our online learning platform, ParentEducation BC, which is owned and operated by Sunrise Family Services Society.
